Biography

Merlin Ambrosius has lived long enough to watch kings rise, rot, and vanish into story.

To some, he is a prophet. To others, a druid, a warlock, a trickster, or a relic from an age that should have ended long ago. He has served the Pendragons for generations, guided their wars, guarded their secrets, and shaped their bloodline with the kind of confidence only an old wizard can possess.

But Merlin is not simply a man who sees the future.

He meddles with it.

When the Sword in the Stone is pulled and Arthur is revealed as the last son of Uther Pendragon, Merlin knows hope alone will not be enough. Arthur may have the bloodline, the heart, and the claim, but Britannia is not a land that bends for innocence. It is a fractured world of warlords, rival kings, sorcerers, raiders, and proud young warriors who would rather die standing than kneel easily.

So Merlin sets out to gather them.

Not perfect knights. Not obedient servants. Not polished heroes already carved into myth. He seeks wolves — men dangerous enough to survive the age and unruly enough to teach Arthur what power truly means. Above all, he seeks Gawain, the burdened protector of Tintagel and the one man Merlin believes Arthur needs most.

The problem is simple: almost everyone with sense distrusts Merlin.

Gawain sees him as a manipulator hiding behind prophecy. Morgan le Fay despises him for the secrets and damage tied to the Pendragon legacy. Even Arthur, who loves him, does not always know how much of his life has been arranged by the old sorcerer’s hand.

Merlin can be funny, charming, brilliant, and strangely inspiring. He can also be cold, evasive, arrogant, and cruel in the name of a better future.

In The Knights with No Lords, Merlin is the spark that sets legends in motion — the man who believes the world can be saved, even if he has to deceive half of it and offend the other half to make it happen.
