Biography
Gaheris has always been easy to look at and harder to understand.
A prince of Lothian, Orkney, and Tintagel, he carries the beauty of a court favorite and the instincts of a man who has spent years watching everyone around him. While Gawain commands armies and Agravain inspires terror, Gaheris moves through the world with a quieter kind of danger: perception.
He sees things.
He sees when people are lying. He sees when affection is being used as a weapon. He sees the hidden wound beneath a smile, the ambition behind a compliment, the weakness behind a threat. As a child, that gift made him difficult to fool. As a young man, it makes him dangerous to anyone with secrets.
But Gaheris is also lost.
For years, he served as the older brother Agravain needed when Gawain was gone. Then Gawain returned. Agravain grew stronger. The kingdom found other heroes to praise. And Gaheris, beautiful and brilliant as he is, began to drift — into taverns, women, smoke, and the quiet belief that no one truly needed him anymore.
Morgan le Fay sees something else.
She sees the mind beneath the melancholy. She sees the prince who can cut through every trick and lie in the room. She sees a man desperate for purpose, and she offers him one. Not as Gawain’s brother. Not as Agravain’s shadow. But as Gaheris.
In The Knights with No Lords, Gaheris is a prince standing at the edge of his own transformation — a gifted archer, wounded son, reckless lover, reluctant father, and dangerous ally whose true value may be that he understands the game before anyone else realizes they are playing it.
