Biography
Pellinore has never been easy to tame.
A warrior, fugitive, scoundrel, and former mercenary, he moves through the world with the swagger of a man who knows exactly how dangerous he is. His reputation stretches across kingdoms: handsome, violent, charming, trouble with a sword, trouble with women, and trouble for anyone foolish enough to believe confidence alone can stand against skill.
For a time, he takes up the mantle of the Fisher King, exacting tolls and challenging those who cross his bridge. Some call him a bandit. Some call him a killer. Others know better than to call him anything within sword’s reach.
Gawain knows him.
Years before Arthur enters the picture, Pellinore was already part of the violent world that shaped Gawain’s youth. He is one of the few fighters Gawain openly acknowledges as his superior — a swordsman so talented that even the most seasoned warriors approach him with caution.
But Pellinore is more than a brute with a blade.
Behind the jokes, insults, and wild grin is a man carrying losses he refuses to discuss. The Brood of the Black Blood, his old mercenary band, lingers in his past like a closed door no one is wise to open. He wears his arrogance like armor, but every man who laughs too loudly at danger is usually hiding something underneath.
Then Arthur arrives.
At first, Pellinore sees him as a boy out of his depth — brave, sloppy, and utterly unqualified to face him. But Arthur keeps getting up. Again and again. Beaten, bloodied, exhausted, and stubborn beyond reason, Arthur reveals something Pellinore cannot dismiss.
Not skill.
Not polish.
Something rarer.
Possibility.
In The Knights with No Lords, Pellinore is the kind of man Arthur must learn to win over if he ever hopes to rule the unruly. Dangerous, proud, damaged, and difficult to impress, Pellinore is no polished knight waiting to serve a crown. He is a wolf with a sword — and if Arthur wants men like him, he will have to prove he is worth following.
